Welcome to Metro Lacrosse!
Founded in the summer of 1989, the Houston Metropolitan completed its 21st season of competition
in 2010. A founding member of the Gulf Coast Lacrosse Association, Metro now competes as a full-
fledged independent and annually plays host to the Gulf Coast Invitational Tournament at the end of
April.
Metro has a stated mission that is unique among club lacrosse teams in our region. Metro's mission
is to further and expand the sport of lacrosse by bringing more teams and players into the game, and
in as many different places as possible. Metro has had a direct role in bringing about such club teams
as the Houston Predators, Bayou City, H'town, and others. Metro has also played a significant role in
helping other teams into the sport as well. Metro played in the very first lacrosse game ever played in the city of Beaumont in 1998, and also played in the very first lacrosse game ever played in the city of
Victoria in 2011. Over the years Metro has played teams from such states as Oklahoma, Arkansas,
Mississippi, and Louisiana, as well as Texas, of course.
Metro plays its home games at Southdown Park at the Westside Events Center, which is located
along Hwy 288 just south of Houston.
